It's in there. The schematic is enough to get started and as with any Monitor series, you better pull it and get some eyes on it. The schematics for vintage Polk speakers aren't used by NASA.

ok. i looked up the schematics for the monitor 7's.... and it lists three different PDF's. which would be the correct one for the 7A's w/peerless? and it uses MW6500 drivers.

They dont have the scHematics for the 7's with peerless and mw6500's.

Here is a diagram of what my 7's with peerless and 6500's have. I took the original 7's crossover diagram that Polk offers and modified it to what my 7's are.
    Monitor 7b's front
    Monitor 4's surround

ok, both croxxovers are done now. and i've been listening to the Monitor 7A's for a couple hours now. OMG!

    best $55 i think i've ever spent.

my friend did the work on the x-overs with me supervising ;), i got them home tonight and right away hooked them up.. very nice sounding, I immediately noticed a big improvement in the clarity in the highs and mids.

I bought what seems to be the standard for x-over upgrades.. Mills/Solen parts. They are much bigger than the old parts of course. I wasn't expecting this much of an improvement in the sq.

    The soundstage is wider.
with the clarity i can hear more and better separation of instruments in the music.
i can hear more separation also in background vocals. I hooked it up to the tube DAC and that also helps with the sq and added a bit more bass as well.

Now it looks like I may have to now redo the x-overs in the the Monitor 7B's as well.

It really did bring back new life into the speakers. I had no idea i was missing so much in my music before. Now I realize all that i was missing.

I highly recommend anyone on the fence whether to to it or not. DO IT! well worth the small $ for the big return on sound quality.

thanks to everyone who helped with the schematic for these. :)

The wierd thing is, that, all the schematics for 7's have just one resistor for the tweeter. While mine is built more like a 10A crossover with 2 resistors.

There you go Al, that's just the exact impression I had when doing my 5b's. Really does transform the speakers, doesn't it? There are some on here that just haven't gotten the same results and I don't know why. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

My latest experiment is bypassing the high frequency Solens with a Platinum Sonic cap and see if that makes not only a difference but a difference that I prefer.

    H9,
next month when I redo the 7B crossover.. i think i'll go a slightly different route and go with either Auricaps or Kimber Kaps. I read that they should be a little smoother in the top end..

After spending several hours last night listening to some CD's and vinyl, i can hear that if the Solen/Mills combo doesn't smooth out in the top end.. it could be to grainy. and that would be a bad thing.

Give them some time for break in, etc. I did the RD0's and the x-over at about the same time and at first I thought the same thing. I'm sure a better cap will improve things a little bit in your next project, but the Solens are surprisingly good. I did mine 6-8 weeks ago they are just now really starting to surprise me.
