Which upgrade ... FXi 3 or CSi5?

I want to buy locally, and so that means Future Shop. And though I'd like to move up to both speakers, my tight financial situation will only allow a single upgrade in the next year or so.

The FXi 3's would be replacing 2 R15's, and the CSi5's would be replacing what I think is a very capable center speaker, the CSi 30. My front left-right speakers are RTi 6's. Would both upgrade clearly improve my current sound, and, if so, which of the two upgrades would have the greatest impact on various versions of 5-channel audio?

I say a better centre. Only cause you may end up upgrading your rti6s to some towers and then the 6 can serve as rears. You could also opt to buy a csi3 and save the extra cash. Where in Canada are you?

if you were local I'd sell you my csi3 cheap.. But I say go for the centre, rears don't do nearly as much as your centre.

Biggest impact -- keep the center (for now), sell the R15's, buy floorstanders for the fronts, and put the RTi6's in the rear.
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

if you go that route, sell the centre, buy towers, slap the 6 in the rear and go phantom for now.

I just bought a entry level Denon 1507 receiver. It is a 75 watt per channel receiver. If I can't resist the desire to upgrade to RTi 8 towers, will the Denon receiver be sufficient? Unfortunately I got the Denon before I began to read various internet Av forums such as this one.

My financial situation definitely limits how high I can go in upgrading my Polk setup. The ceiling for me is RTi 8's. I can't afford a better receiver and the RTi 8's both at the same time.

I had a similar setup using a RTi6, R15's, and CSi25. I wholeheartedly agree with Early unless you want to do something different like getting a sub to extend your range lower.

    Droid,

Futureshop always seems to have sales on the big holidays and since both you and I are in Canada look for a Canada Day sale. Whenever speakers go on sale at future shop they tend to be between 20-30% off so look at the current online prices and wait for the Canada Day weekend sale and you should save a good chunk of change. I noted that at my closest Futureshop in Sudbury, Ontario that they have open box sales and have noticed some Polk equipment from time to time.

If you really want to know I would call ahead to Futureshop and ask them if they expect speakers to go on sale over the Canada day long weekend.

Good luck ... only two weeks until Canada day! and the sales!!
