Need Help Selecting In Ceiling Set-up
Appreciate any feedback and advice. In the process of completing Home Theater Purchases. Will have the following in open style fairly small family room:
Panasonic TH-50PZ750U hanging over fireplace
Onkyo TX-SR674 Receiver
I am interested in Ceiling Set-up. I'm thinking One Center, L/R Surround in front and L/R Surrounds in Back. What 5 speakers should I go with? Don't really want a Sub. Budget approximately $2500.
THANKS

My father in law has some boston acoustics in ceilings that are directional and sound pretty good. Pretty good for in-ceilings, that is. Definitely a compromise at best. Is there no other way for you to do it?Monitor Audio GR 60, GR10, GRLCR

have you looked at the Polk LC80i? I'm considering them for the rear two speakers in a 7.1 setup after i get my 5.1 where i want it. i don't think your receiver will have too hard of time pushing them even though they're 4 ohm speakers, but someone else might want to chime on that.AVR: Pioneer VSX-84TXSi (RIP - lightening) / Amp: Sunfire Cinema Grand / Klipsh R-10B Sounbar, LC65fx / Sub: Elemental Designs LT/1300 / TV: Panasonic TH-50PH9UK /SIZE]

First off, welcome to the forum. Next with that kind of budget you could use any of the Polk in wall/ceiling. The receiver will do fine with all as well. Look at the LCI, RCI, TCI, SC series from Polk. Figure out if you want round or rectangular and rock on. You might want to rethink the "no sub" option tho. Check ebay for these speakers for cheaper price, theres a bunch on there now new in the box. Hope this helps

Thanks for the feedback! I think I'm going to go with this set-up:
TC80i's for Front L/R and Center
TC60i's for Rear L/R
I tried to upload picture of room in soon to be purchased home to give an idea. My goal is to keep clean look that is why I'm going with the in-ceiling. Not sure about sub at this point.
Thanks Again -
one last recommendation after looking at your pic. if you haven't looked at the surround bar from Polk you might want to consider it before buying 5 in-ceilings. it's very clean and fit's nicely with flat screens. i believe you can wire it to handle the front L/R & center channels and send the surround channels to the in-ceilings. my personal preference for the front and center speakers is to have them firing forward. i like in-ceiling for surround. good luck with everything and post some pictures after you get done when you get a chance.
