What amp should I get?

I bought a Denon avr-1905 on a impusle because it was fairly cheap and has pre outs and is a large upgrade over my 1602. I will be able to re-coup most of my money selling the 1602
I want to get a amp before I buy any speakers. What amp should I be looking for to drive Rti6 and 4 bookshelfs and csi center. Should I go with a 5 channel amp or a 7 channel? How much power do the rear surrounds really need?
I'd like to buy used in the $500 range. Any specific model recommendations would be appreciated. I know the brands, rotel, sunfire, adcom, carver, outlaw, etc...
