I have a Sony STR-DG600 Receiver and a Sony CDP-CX355 CD Juke Box.
I just got an Adcom GFA-555II on Ebay. I am going to use the pre amp out on the DG600 to drive the power amp. Will this yield satisfactory results? Also the digital output on the CX355 is opticial and the CD digital input on the DG600 is coax. Can I use the digital tape input for the CD? I can't find a spec for the DAC in the DG600 or the CX355, I was wondering if the DAC in the DG600 is better than the one in the CX355? I am considering going to an external DAC and pre amp with tuner. What kind of improvement will I get from those upgrades? Any help on equipment would be great!
Thanks

I think you will be satisfied with the amp....I don't think there is any harm in you using the Tape/MD in for your CDP....Most of the audio labels (when there is no video in/out attached) are pretty much interchangeable, just remember what you have plugged in where....All of the upgrades you mentioned will yield some great results sound quality wise, I think you will be happy with the results. What is your price range for the upgrades? Are you looking to stay surround or go to 2 channel? Oh yeah, welcome aboard man...:)

Thanks for the help.
This is a 2 channel system. As for prices I need to keep it reasonable. I'm looking for used hopefully under 300.00 per component.

You can do it, just takes some time. Check out Audiogon everyday along with E-bay and Craiglist.
Enjoy your excellent audio adventure.
