Should I Upgrade from RTi to LSi?
Folks,
I was considering updating to LSi9 for mains, LSiC, LSiFX and a Rotel RMB1095 to power them all.
Taking that into consideration and I am 80% music and 20% HT / TV and the fact I actually enjoy a "wide selection" of music, with over 3000 CDs varying from Abba, Glenn Miller, Metallica, Nat King Cole, ZZ Top, some jazz and minimal classical etc, will the LSi's still have the punch and shine through for the rock / pop collection I own?
Alternatively, would I be better sticking with the RTi10s, upgrading to a CSi5 and FXi5s and still acquiring the Rotel RMB1095 for my musical tastes? Any advice would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

Lsi and don't ever look back . . . I think I once had Rti8s . . . Check out Totem Rainmakers. I like them better than the Lsi9s.

Sell everything and start all over. Buy the best 2-channel channel system you can afford, then expand it to HT later.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

HT is easy, have fun with the 2CH rig.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Spring for the LSI15's, get a nice 2 channel amp. The rest will fall into place later.

In my opinion, the Lsi's are a BIG step above all the other current polk lines.Michael

If I were to do it again (and only building one system, not separate HT and 2-channel), I would heed everyone's advice above. . .
Build yourself a nice 2-channel setup, then expand it to full 5, 6, 7 channel down the road as money falls into place. Use your Yamaha or get a good multichannel pre-pro, and a solid 2, 3, or 5 channel amp (may as well just start with 2), and get some solid front speakers. Later, you can supplement with a sub, center, then surrounds. All you'll need to add is another solid amp to power them, if you have a multi channel pre-pro in place.Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand

Thanks guys for all the feedback!
What you state is common sense with the 2 channel set up, as my first love is music. I know I am not alone, but if I had done this right the first time, I would have saved a heap of money!! Thanks again and now to start working on the 2 channel and gradually adding the other components as finances permit.Regards - Gaz from the land of Oz

Yes, if only the salespersons would've told us to:
Put down that new 5.1 mid-fi setup and Yamaha receiver, trust me, you don't want that!
Go home, get on Audiogon, find a great set of the best used bookshelf or tower speakers you can afford, get a solid used amplifier, find an AVR or pre-pro used or through online retailers and you'll be good to go!
Oh, and don't ever buy your cables from us, we mark them up 300%. Get em online for much cheaper!Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand

I agree with the previous comments.....the LSI's are superior....very clear, deep and effortless sound....with good amplification. I am running my LSI 9 mains and LSIc with a Yamaha RXV 630 as pre and Anthem MCA 3 amp at 225 wpc at 8 ohms for all kinds of music and HT, and the system is flawless. I think the RTI's are good speakers, but a little to bright for my tastes.B&W 804s mains

I did have a salesman at tweeter ,when I was looking at amps, tell me to go on line and look at Outlaw as the only one they had was Krell and was too much money. I had big respect for that guy.Michael
