I have 2 different cables to test against each other. One is a XLR to RCA, and the other is RCA to RCA. Both use high purity silver, and WTB connectors for the RCA, and Nuetrik for the XLRs. Both have a PBJ style braid.
Time to play... Music:)

Don't forget to match the volume level. I believe the XLR output from a pre or source is several db higher than rca output. Interesting how you're doing rca to xlr. That's something I'd want to try with my pre. My pre has xlr outs but the amp is purely rca.

OK after 1 hour of listening. Playing different kinds of music. Being really critical. I am totally surprised. I had XLR to RCA on one side, and RCA to RCA on the other. The XLR/RCA cable has not been broken in. I expected a boost on the XLR side. Outlaw says a 6db diff using Straight XLRs. My friend came in for a listen(he didn't know what I did). I had him check it out from the sweet spot, and in front of each speaker. He without knowing what I did said the RCA side sounded thicker. The only difference I noticed was the highs were more detailed on the XLR side. Wierd. I am going to have to dd an XLR/XLR vs RCA/RCA next.

Oh yeah, no noise at all from the conversion cable.

Adcom GFA-5800 50k inputs, and 2 volts for max out.

Interesting. Keep us posted. So you prefer the xlr/rca configuration? Where can I find cables that are already terminated with xlr on one side and rca in the other?

Well I just put these in my system, and the RCA/RCA were already burned in. But as far as I can tell from one hour. I like the XLR/RCA more by just a hair. I want to swap channels, and give some burn in time before I say it is worth it.
