How are you able to get that with the PS3? It won't even let me select it.

Did you upgrade the firmware in your PS3 for the DTSMA-HD feature? The update came out about a month ago.

Yeah, I figured out the problem. I went into BD DVD settings and changed the audio out to LPCM but I guess it didn't select it cause I went back in there today and it was set to bitstream.

Reviving an old thread--I finally had the chance to watch this last night-Wasn't on Blu, but it was HD via Fios. I liked the storyline(and the movie) odd but different. I didn't read the books so I think it will be interesting to see where this goes. Sorta reminds me of Myst.

Anyway, the main reason I'm commenting is that I think it sounded awesome!! I'm running my sub a bit hot, but man, the sub-bass in this movie just sounded awesome-the room was shaking. It gave the CGI bear more realism and oh so much power. Every step the bear made the room shook. It just felt good.

I also thought it was much better than expected. Too bad it appears the sequels are on hold. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0385752/board/nest/120668661

Yeah, that's bad news. I don't normally buy DVDs after viewing the rental, but Golden Compass was the only DVD purchase from all of the movies I watched in 2008.

    Damn, is it 2009 already?
