Outlaw Mono Blocks 4 or 8 ohm?

I installed new Outlaw Mono Blocks to power my LSi15s and LSic yesterday. They corrected my problem with driving the speakers with an HK receiver at 80 WPC and only 8 ohm output. In the treble range the HK was very raspy for voices like Celine Dion.

Question? Since the amps do not have an external switch for 4 or 8 ohm selection how do I know they are putting out 4 ohms to the speakers???

Just attach the speakers. Not trying to be a smart ars but the amp can handle the load. It is built into the specs.

Recievers have the 4 ohm / 8 ohm switch if they can't *really* hand the 4 ohm load. The 4 ohm switch, in that case, actually puts a limit on the current output of the reciever so that it does not overload itself.

The outlaw monoblock has no such switch because it can fully handle a 4ohm or and 8ohm load without any problem.

    EJD,
Welcome to our madhouse. Most speakers, even if they are rated at 4 or 8 ohms, their resistance will change as they are pushed. For instance, my old B&W's rated at 8 ohms would sometimes drop into the 5 ohm range, putting more strain on the amp.

The Outlaw will put 200 watts into 8 ohm and 300 into 4 ohm, driving most speakers well. The monoblocks also have a class G switching capability over 80 watts so they also run very cool for long periods.

Just hook them up and enjoy. No need to worry about underdriving them anymore. Just do not go full blast on the volume control.

Thanks for all the info. They sound so good that it is hard to believe I waited 10 months to make it happen. As soon as I find a way to attach a couple pictures I will show the stack and their relationship to the other components. Last night running a movie from our local broadcast station in high def and digital optical audio the voices were soooo clear.
