I have several titles remastered by Kevin and they are all quite nice. I played the MFSL remaster of Aja and didn't particularly care for it compared to the original, seemed to the the highs and lows accentuated. I bet this one is much better.

Thanks for the heads up, might have to pick this one up. My current Aja isn't that impressive (1977 ABC Records pressing...that's bad, isn't it?) Very sibilant and noisey.

However, my reference LP is and always has been Steely Dan's Gaucho...got it for $2.99 at Dave's Records. Thanks Dave.

my vinyl pressing of Aja is bad too.. the record is clean. but it sounds horrible. no dynamics at all. so i'm interested in the remaster.

I've been eyeballing this for a while. I have the MFSL Original Master Recording of this I really like it and don't know if I want to spent the $30 + shipping for the 180 gm. Perhaps your pressing of the MFSL is off Chuck. Mine is very dynamic and on Peg, the beginning of the song you feel the ping.

Just because something is reissued on 180 gm doesn't mean it is good. For example I have the 30 year aniv. 180 gm reissue of DSOTM. . . not a good example of a good pressing, it is very noisy and the vinyl is pretty crappy.

If anyone does purchase this reissue I would really appreciate it if you contacted my by email or PM to let me know what you think of it.

I just purchased the 180 & 200 gram reissues of the Beatles White LP, Yellow Submarine and Jethro Tull's "Aqualung". The only reason I haven't played them yet is because I am waiting for the crossovers to break in.

I have the original ABC records rainbow label pressing and prefer the plain Jane red label Portuguese pressing to it. The fun with Aja really starts on the 5 different CD masterings from all over the world with Steve Hoffman's UK version and Roger Nichol's version being the 2 that I like the best.

Yeah, I will most likely get the new LP too, since all things Steely Dan are fun to me.
