I received my new to me Jolida JD 100 cdp today from Hoosier21 in original packing and in fine condition. To my surprise it was heavily Dynamated and had some EI or EH tubes in it ( I opened it up but my 3 year old was a little to curious so I quickly closed it back up) and also came with some Solvteks(SP). I literally listened to 1 song after it had only been powered up for a few minutes and it definately has more detail, more open and more bass than any of my previous players.

I hope to spend a little more time with it tonight, after the tubes warm up.

Thanks to Hoosier21 for a nice piece.

Scott

Russ is really touchy-feely in person so that transaction was best handled by UPS.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

It is alive and the bass punch is more than I expected. What tubes are in it right now? I opened it up but my three year old was trying to play with the screw driver and I thought it was best to close it up. So I never got a close look.

And as a side note you could kill some on with this remote. It is quite a chunk of aluminum.

I just put some GE 5751 triple micas in mine and it mellowed it out very much to my satisfaction. Ebay $109 for a quad.

A question for the other Jolida JD100 owners.

Should I turn the CD player on for a period of time to let the tubes warm up before playing/or listening to it?

I also had to put a cheater plug on the power cord to eliminate a hum and transport noise I was getting. It kind of makes me nuts knowing I have it plugged in with 98 cent plug. I was thinking about breaking the ground prong off the plug for the time being and if I put it into a pure two channel system independent of my HT amp I can just use another cord or build a nice new fancy one.

I am still getting a slight hum/buzz but nothing like before.

I think I now have to upgrade my interconnects to get the most out of this player.

I like the way it sounds but I think it is now revealing my other weaknesses in my system.

I felt it sounded better after a short warm up, like all tube equipment.

Hum/buzz? I never heard either at my house, sorry you are getting some.

For what it's worth, leaving it in standby might help also regarding warm up time. I emailed Jolida once and they said that it leaves the "heaters" on yet the tubes aren't "engaged" so lifespan isn't negatively affected.

    No worries Russ.

It is something in my crazy set up that is causing the issue I am sure.

I would just like to add that warmup time was greatly reduced once I put a PS Audio Statement PC on it. I would estimate it went from 45 minutes to about 15...very significant especially if the rest of your gear is SS.

    Thanks,

Use the power button on the remote to turn it off. That leaves the unit in stand by mode. As jrlouie stated, it keeps the tubes warmed up.
