Some like the 8's better. Why not get the best of both worlds, pay the few dollars more and get the 12's.

I thought they sounded bright and thin when running them with a receiver alone. After I added the amp and better interconnects I love them! The highs were tamed, now they sound full and detailed.

not talking value. talking apple to apple. How are the 10's better than the top of the line 12's?

the 8's are 12's without woofers, the 10's are 12's without the midrange from what I understand

As price wasn't a factor I went with what i thought was "the best"..the 12's.

The 8's are not 12's without woofers. The RTi4 and RTi12 are the only two speakers in the lineup that use 5 1/4 inch drivers. The 6, 8, and 10 all use 6 1/2 inch. I think the midrange has a more natural sound, especially with male vocals, with the larger, single 6 1/2 inch midbass in the 10's.

Bigger isn't always better, and in the case of the RTi series, for me the buck stops at the RTi10. As always, your mileage may vary.

yes but doesn't the 12's have two midrange speakers? And more woofers for mid bass when using a sub?

I just want to know as I never have heard the 10's and from what I have read here, the mid range is weak. I don't mind less midrange actually if it takes some brightness away.

I have no brightness, and the midrange is damn near spot on. I can't help you with what others have said - mine sound dandy. If they didn't, I wouldn't own them, simple as that.

Very happy with them, and not even giving them enough juice yet (140 watts RMS)!! Going to purchase a Rotel RMB1095 which should really make them sing.

I think the RTi10 "should" be great for HT. At least that's what I'm going to try next. I had the chance to try the R50s and RTi8 at home. Found the RTi8 bright and lacking midbass.

FWIW, I have a pair of RTi12, and a pair of RT2000i (basically a predecessor to the RTi10, but with powered bass drivers/subs) and not knocking the 12, but I like the RT2000i better between the two, even with substantial amplification on the 12s.

I've got the RTi10's and I love the midrange, mid-bass and bass that comes from these speakers. For my personal tastes, I have disabled the tweeter because of the brightness. Some would consider that detail, I guess it depends on where they are in their audio journey. I have replaced the sound emitted from the tweeters with the full spectrum of sound from a pair of Focal 807v's. The combination for me is outstanding. Keep in mind, from my understanding, these speakers were designed to be in a HT rig, so there good for what they were designed to do.

When you put these bad boys together with a good sub and give them enough accurate juice, they will not only make you smile, they'll make you feel good. I think the mid-bass punch is it's best attribute. Quick, accurate, pleasing but not overbearing. IMO, I don't hear any loss of midrange, unless playing certain redbook CD's [as opposed to SACD].....that's probably due to the actual recording.

What amp did you add? I was also thinking about this.
