Allied Forces landed on the beaches of Normandy for D-Day!
I may have to fire up Saving Private Ryan in honor of the troops that made it possible for me to be able to fire up Saving Private Ryan!
Bless them all!

I just watched modern marvels about D-day on the history channel. Very interesting stuff. I never knew allies used inflatable tanks and jeeps as a diversion to fool the Germans.AVR: H/K AVR240

Heroes one and all. We will always be in your debt.

not only will we be in their debt... everyone in red here will be too...
has anyone else ever been to the beaches at normandy?
it is truly amazing what these men did... i remember standing on the road that's now across the beaches, looking towards the water a quarter mile away... a quarter mile _behind_ me is where the cliffs began... these guys had to run across half a mile of completely open beach, under machine gun nests for as far as the eye can see... it's truly amazing that any of them survived at all...It's not good, very fundamentally simply not good. - geolemon
