Person is on Audiogon, asking for 700 + s/h, but i live within 30 min drive, so I can avoid the shipping and handling damage and price.

What should i look for when i go to check out the speakers?

Except the obvious Broken cones/scratches.

How should a legit serial look like, even tho I would have no warranty.

Could some one try and sell fake Polk speakers?

I am just a suspicous person, when buying used stuff from individuals.

Any help in this category would be appreciated.

THanks

-Matti

If they have a decent rating on Agon, I'd buy from them with confidence. Maybe swing by Tweeter or any other local retailer that carries LSi15s to get a feel for what the real deal looks like, but I doubt someone would go to the trouble to create a fake Polk speaker and sell it on Agon. You own LSi9s, so you should already kind of know what they should look like.

Great price if they are anywhere near great to mint shape!

    I agree with Agon.
    I would do this:
Take my own CD(s) to demo/test the speakers with,
Listen closely to each driver and tweeter (literaly put your ear right next to them),
Appraise the overall appearance of the speakers
Do you hear that buzzing noise?

This is the post that i am looking at:

    http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrfull&1184477348

I emailed him and he asked for reassurances that i would purchase it from him, because there are alot of inquiries...

i asked him to setup a listening session for next week because i will be out of town.

    looks pretty legit...

thanks for the advice... going to email the guy back saying that I will buy the speakers, if all the speakers are working as they should be, but with his positive feedback i do no think it will be a problem.

Looking forward to the LSI 15's

Mark is a great guy so buy with confidence. I bought an amp from him and would have bought these speakers if I had known he was selling them at the time.

    Enjoy them!
