does anyone have this ingenious device, and if so, is it worth picking up? it seems like a crazy addition, and you wouldn't EVER have to pick up another EQ as long as you live..suggestions?

If you have a stock radio, its great. If you have an aftermarket radio, especially one with an optical out, the Alpine H701 is the way to go.

JBL is supposed to come out with a nice unit pretty soon as well, if its not already out...

If you need equalization and have a wad of money to blow, it would be a good choice. It's got all the toys (BlueTooth, etc) and is cooler than "S", but like you said it a crazy addition.

I put one in one of our employee's Suburban here. It's a good piece but not the most user friendly. It's small but you have to link to it through bluetooth. Either with a PDA (only certain ones) or a laptop with a Bluetooth adapter (which is what I used).

JBL's was supposed to be released in April. I think they held to thier release date but it's freaking impossible to find right now. Lots of people have listed but damn near everyone has it on backorder.

If youre just wanting an EQ, look into some Audiocontrol pieces. Theyre cheaper.

If youre wanting 8 channel time alignment, crossovers and 1/3 octave EQ's then the Alpine 701 would be best but also cost $800.

The 360.2 is a very good piece but the main gripes I have with it are:
-sub cut off no lower than 50 Hz
    -no channels for midbass
    -tiny PDA display
-time alignment in pretty large .13 ms increments
    -PDA adjustments arent real time

And since a 360.2 costs the same as an Alpine 701, the Alpine wins hands down every time.

The display on my PDA is more detailed and easier to read than the h701 controller IMO.

Very true but if you dont have a laptop, $1500 is an awful lot to spend on a remote controller. ;)

It is laid out better and some of the features are very easy to read and use but the 31 band EQ is a tight fit.

it had a screen of fireflies, no keyboard (point and click should be enough for anyone!), and power is provided by a hamster wheel (hamster not included)...

getting back on subject, :p i have a cda 9857. i was looking at the audiocontrol pieces but i sort of want more eq than an 8 band in-dash. maybe a trunk mounted piece? don't want to spend a ton though, that's why i haven't gone with anything quite yet...i wish to boost midrange.

    No Optical Out :(

360.2 or the Alpine H701 are both great pieces and I highly recommend both. If you had an optical out i would say def. go with the alpine, if you had the factory radio, i would say def. go with the 360.2. Since you have neither, get whichever one is cheaper. With the alpine, youll have to buy a separate controller. With the 360.2, if you dont have a laptop or a palm pilot, youll have to pick up one of the 2. Itll work with some phones as well.

The 360.2 is a very handy little tool! It is a pain that you need a palm pilot to operate it though. If you have a newer model of car where it is impossible to replace the CD player I would go with the RF 360.2. If you can replace it you could just look at an Eclipse CD7000. Lots of control options with that deck.

Just a guess- you'd probably have to run software that emulates Windows (unless the folks at RF have included a Mac version?).

Right, I highly doubt they have the software for a Mac. Time to upgrade to a PC anyway:)

Yes, PC only. FYI I got an R32 Thinkpad (outdated) from work used for $100. All of our sales guys use laptops so there are few here and there that are still usable and no ,I can't get anyone a deal.

I would assume they will be coming out with Apple based software eventually.

There are a ton of people using Macs and I cant see RF shutting them out.
