Anyone picking this up today? I have yet to see it, but have read many positive reviews on it. Might just be a blind purchase.

Peace Out~:D

    Watched it last night.

A pretty liberal adaptation of the book, which was fine with me.

A good old fashioned revenge tale with no surprises and a very satisfactory catharsis at the end.

Scenery and sets are impressive, and the acting is good. BTW, the bad guy in COMC is the Time Machine actor and he plays an evil part rather well.

Picture quality is nice. DD soundtrack is nothing special, despite being THX certified.

An enjoyable night in at the movies - recommended but not stunning like Gladiator. My rating is 7.5/10.

The original Dumas book IS great, but the movie has some significant differences.

Overall, the plot remains true to the book, but if you are a purist and are expecting an exact book-to-screen translation, you might be a bit disappointed. I wasn't, though - I didn't mind the "artistic license" stuff - it made the movie more enjoyable.

Generally, I don't expect movies to match the book verbatim as it is nearly impossible. If you go in witht he mindset that the movie has to be exactly like the book you will be disappointed every time.

    Watched this movie last night.
I liked it, give it good marks in most categories,
    costume, acting etc.
The one criticisum I have is the digitalizing of the fight scence at the end. I hate what is clearly unrealistic movement.
If the two actors were not swordsmen enough to stage a dynamic fight, I think the director could have used doubles and long shots, mixed with close ups, a common enough way of getting around the problem. The lack of believable ageing in the lead actress, was the only other thing that seemed lacking.
    A good movie overall.
