Have been considering purchase of lsi15 however understand AVR may not power them properly, in your opinion how well would a Pioneer Elite AVR rated at 140wpc into 8 ohms work. Thanks Jerry

It looks like that would be the flagship of the Elite line. I am sure it will run them, but to get the most out of the 15's, a separate amp would be best.

If you got a 2 channel amp and ran the 15's off that and ran the rest of your home theater off the Pioneer I think it would be a much better solution as you would be removing the hardest to run speakers from your AVR leaving more power for the rest of the speakers in your setup.

You could always purchase it and the LSi line, run them together, and when you want\need to upgrade purchase the amps. (I would just get them up front, but it is your system)

First off welcome! Stay awhile; you'll enjoy it.

Regarding what Michael said; +1000, he's absolutely right. Give those 15's some power!

The Pioneer Elite series is rated for use with speakers from 6 - 16 ohms. The Polk LSi is a 4 ohm loudspeaker.

You can certainly use it and may never have a single problem but you are going against the manufacturers recommendations. You can easily integrate an outboard amplifier, 'insert brandname here', using the pre-outs on the AVR.

    Good luck.

take those reccomendations with a grain of salt. My 15's are getting 500 a channel into 4 ohms from my carver and dont strain at all. Doro brings up a good point about the ohm rating of the AVR, I think the 4 ohm LSi's might yank power out of the reciever faster than it would like. watch the temperature, and give that reciever room to breath.

remember, underpowerng a speaker is more risky than over powering. if the amp clips, that can cause problems, so dont go nuts with the volume, if you hear distortion at all, back off fast.
