Suggestions for a compact subwoofer
I'm in the market for a used compact sub woofer to replace my18"x18"x15" Dayton sub.
Looking for suggestions and recommendations.
I want to keep the size around 12" cubed.
Room size is approx 2200 cubic ft.
I like to keep the cost <$500.00
Here are some that I know of that are about the right size, don't know about the prices though.
Sunfire True subwoofer Jr
Sunfire True EQ
Minivee
Definitive SuperCube
edit: the velo dd10 was out of my price range even used , so I removed it.
Anyone know of any others?

Second on the Sunfire. The only other one to consider would be the Velodyne Minivee. I know SVS makes a smallish sub, but I don't think it's very smallish in reality compared to the sunfires and velodynes.Monitor Audio GR 60, GR10, GRLCR

Thanks for the input so far folks.
No one likes the Supercubes? -

Sunfire is definitely a good choice. But check out www.earthquakesound.com , specifically their Earthquake SuperNova subs. Same design and idea as Sunfire.

You could probably find used Earthquake Supernova cheaper than Sunfire sub.Panasonic PT-AE4000U projector for movies

why nobody recommends Outlaw LFM-2 and Martin Logan Dynamo (is 12'' cubed and ML can be found on the net for < $500)
actually Outlaw has 2 new subs: LFM-1 EX and LFM-1 compact
also this is pretty much the same as outlaw:

I thought SVS made a compact sub also. the SB12 plus or something like that.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

The Outlaws and HSU are too big for what I want to do.
Outlaws compact sub is (HxWxD) 16.75" x 13 " x 19 "
I didn't realize the ML Dynamo was so small. -
PSB has some Ultra Compact Subs

Velodyne Minivee is great little sub.engtaz
I love how music can brighten up a bad day. -
I would wait and get your ears on the upcoming PSW111. It's a great little subwoofer and fits your requirements exactly.

There is another model coming out later that has built-in room DSP but I don't recall the model number.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -

Thanks for chiming in, I was about to ask if anybody owned a Dynamo.
How big is your HT room?
I am definitely leaning towards the Sunfire Jr. but kolyan2k piqued my interest in the Dynamo, although it's a little bigger than I wanted, and doesn't go quite as low as I would prefer.(edit;oops read the specs wrong, it does go down to 25.)
Been reading some decent reviews on it. -
Stay far away from the Definitive Supercube..
They list -10db low FR content...
So you figure they actually do like 30-25hz realisticly..- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

LOL okay, I'll heed your warning.
I read somewhere today that they kind of inflate their specs for the supercube. -
They don't inflate...
They just dont rate them like everyone else.
There is no standard.. so if you want to post -10db FR - whos to say you cant??- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

OK, now you lost me. If there is no standard, whose ratings are we to believe? -
Thats a great question.
Might as well... get a SPL meter - some test tones and bring them in your own room and give it a whirl!- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
I will say this
SVS is very true to their specs...
VMPS is as well...
HSU is
Polk is
Velodyne is- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Haven't heard the subs on your list, but I used to own the Martin Logan Dynamo and was VERY impressed. I found it fast and musical...very capable of keeping up with my then Martin Logan Aeon i mains.
As a bonus, it converts to either front- or down-firing. Cool little sub.Von Schweikert VR4-jr
