RM 6900 from 5.1 to 7.1

I just purchased a set of polk audio rm 6900 speakers and I am considering adding two more speakers to make 7.1. My room is set up with the prime listening area in a corner. I was thinking a 7.1 would make a better overall sound for everone in the room. What do you think? Does 7.1 sound much better than 5.1. Will another set of 6900 satellites work?
