rotel issue

Lets see if i can get this to make sense. I recently tore apart the rig to install new cables. Afterr I got it back together my right channel is not working. Also my BFD is only showing the left channel working.
So here is what I did.
Checked my setup on the Rotel (i think it is right)
Swapped cables to see if i have a bad one (doesn't appear to be the case)
One curious note, when I undo the left channel IC I lose all sound, ok, because the right channel isn't working. But when I swap channels, for example when I run from rotel left to amp right it still plays on the left speaker and the bfd still shows only left channel.
I did end up with an extra cable or two when I got it all put back together but I think I have all my hookups correct.
Any thoughts.......................kevin
ps I also installed my new cdp at the same time.

Pictures? Really....
"when I run from rotel left to amp right it still plays on the left speaker"<----this would not seem possible if the speakers are connected properly. Rotel pre left out to amp right input out to left speaker? Only if the amp outputs are backwards or something internal is wrong. I've been moving speakers all day...maybe I need to sleep on it. -

The fact that I am not getting the output at the speaker or the BFD leads me to thinking that I have a Pre amp problem. Am I wrong? The Flea rig

Ok....
BFD - you should only have one channel working (unless you are running 2 subs) so that should be ok. Do verify that the sub is plugged into the channel that is lit up though. (the lights inidcate filters are set, not that signal is present)
Rotel - assuming no setup changes (i.e. you did not lose any memory settings when you tore apart the gear):- Disconnect all inputs and outputs from your rotel.
- Plug all your preouts into your amps (and speakers into your amps if neccesary).
- Run through the test tones built into the Rotel verify that all channels are playing. (if not, swap a known working channel for a dead one and see if the problem moves with the cable or stays on the same channel)
- Plug in your DVD player and put in a video essentials disk - run through the same test with the test tones.
- Plug in the rest of your inputs one at a time and test the channels after each one is plugged in.

My thoughts are that you probably answered all your own questions, in your own post. Kevin, seriously man.....
The easiest way to troubleshoot audio problems....simplify.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Too many leftovers and changes. Slow down and recheck the Rotel (leftover items and not working is definitely a clue)engtaz
I love how music can brighten up a bad day. -
BFD? I always thought that was "big effing deal."

Nope - it is Behringer Feedback Destroyer A 12-band stereo Parametric eq used to tame bass peaks in a home theater setup. They are cheap and work great. (I use one as well)

Mild beating accepted.:o
I will work my way through it, but sometimes it nice to ask just in case I am missing something simple or if someone else has had this happen.
Now I just have to squeeze my fat **** behind the entertainment center:cool:The Flea rig

Opus - on the way to Church, but will give you a call when I get back. I am sure it is just a configuration issue. (if not, I know where you can get a nice NAD cheap... )

I hate to say this, but sometimes my Sunfire would get quirky....I would just reset it....Then re-calibrate it...My roommates used to do some silly **** to my processor while I was out, I became a pro at pressing that little button...

Pics. Do you by some chance have a left, and right connection going to a pair of left inputs? Is there some type of mono/bridged button/switch on one of your components that may have gotten bumped. Redoing wiring and having wires left over usually is not good, every time I do it I need more . Any how good luck, and get us some pics if you can
Later,
dude -
Kevin,
By any chance did you bump a balanced/unbalanced switch on the amp??

Boy, do I know that issue! At least my knees sound worse than the audio system! -
Yea I got it. Simple is as simple does.
It would appear that I Have a bad kimber PBJ. Works sometimes and not others. I thought I had taken that into account but I have so many of those damn blue and red wires back behind there that I got them mixed up:mad: .
Good news. At least I don't have a bad preamp. Although I'm afraid I got a few stupid points added to my column:(
