Another question from a noob. The specs on the Onkyo was minimium sustained 75wpc. Max 150wpc. Supposedy high current channels as well. Can those specs FULLY drive the R50s and R300? In otherwords, will I be able to get the full range of sound from these speakers?

Thanks again.

Yes it can drive the R50s and R300. But since your unit has no preamp outs you will not be able to get any more added power out of your AVR.

Yes, I used to have that series (TX-SR500) and it can drive pretty much any speaker to its fullest potential. However, as engtaz said, you cannot add any additional amplification to this receiver.

Thanks for the quick reply. If I upgrade to 1000 dollar speakers. I will certainly get a new AVR. I don't see that happening for another 3 or 4years at least :) Again, thanks of the reply.

No problem. Welcome to Club Polk!

I have the Onkyo TX-SR702, which although is an upgrade from the TX-SR500series, I would like to say that the TX-SR500s are an excellent reciever at that price point.

    Enjoy!

I went from an Onkyo 100 watts per ch 6.1 to my Denon 4802.

I’m not having problems with my Onkyo driving my full setup right now. It pretty much rattles my neighbors kitchen dish's..
