I just picked up a new to me Denon 3802 with original remote. No manual. Does anyone have an electronic one? I would guess one for 4802 or similar model would work as well. I didn't see anything this old on the Denon site.
Thanks.

Michael

wow...thanks...and I do legal research for a living (but I also have 3rd degree ADD)....I will actually read this, but do you know, and I know you do, whether the 3802 will downmix a 5 channel soundtrack to stereo? Thanks. It is going to be a few days before I get the whole HT thing up and running.

I have no idea Neil. If it is a 5 channel soundtrack then I listen to it in 5 channels!

I think that it would actually be a function handled by your DVD player. I remember having to go in and change the setting from 2 channel default to multichannel on my Pioneer DVD player.

My 3803 has a 7 channel stereo setting. (this way it really rattles my head).

the 3802 has that as well...but I only have two speakers connected now and a csi5 on the way and I need to run some speaker wire through the ceiling in the basement to connect the surrounds....

That ceiling run is always a pain. I did mine when I ripped the basement to the studs. I actually sank my surrounds in between the joists to get them up a little more (otherwise they are kind of close to your head).

I got the wire runs made and got the surround sound going...mostly...I just printed off the manual. The previous owner appears to have been big on Neo6 (was he in the Matrix?). My first test was a scene in Aliens and when they blew the door off its hinges and it landed on the ground, my son and I thought the receiver had fallen off the stand the sound was so realistic. Also listened to the Eagles concert in DTS. Only issue I am going to have is that rears are only a couple feet behind listening area. Fronts are about 6-8 feet. This is the living room and moving the furniture is not an option.

That shouldn't be much trouble. Just adjust the speaker distance settings on the receiver and enjoy.
