CD input questions

Other than phono inputs on an amp/receiver, are the others all essentially the same (assuming analog)? I was plugging a second CDP into my int. amp the other day to compare it with the one I was using and wondered if the aux input or one of the a/v audio inputs was the same as the cd input?
