Can I run a 6 ohm speaker such as the Totem Tabu on my NADC272 even though it is only rated for 4 or 8 ohm loads?

only if you sacrifice a cat first will it be ok (not a bad example of a dumb answer)

the NAD can go down to 2 ohms, you are going to be ok with 6.
Hell, that NAD can run just about anything with that PE feature, I think Stereophile did an article on the PE amps, this was in like 89 or something, but I think they were getting over 1000wpc into 2 ohms for short (less than 1 sec) bursts... and 95% of audio is not going to have super long transients like that. Your c272 is not going to do any worse than some '89 vintage piece from the same line. If you are truly worried you could enable the soft clipping feature.
