I'm still throwing around the idea of upgrading my speakers, but there are limited resources in my area for demo-ing higher end speakers. I have RTi150s for mains and I went out of town this weekend to listen to some B & Ws, Mirage, and Paradigm. B & Ws (705/805s, CM Floor standing, 803) all had nice mid range but at least to my ear just lacked the uumph and presence that my 150s have. The mirage speaker had the omipolar tweeter in it which did have a very nice ambient sound stage and the speaker itself sounded very nice, but not worth paying another 2400 bucks...aside from the abmbient qualities I still thought that it was inferior to the 150s playback. I did listen to some AMAZING Theil speakers that did sound quite a bit better and smoother/seamless than my 150s, but I'd had to fork out 10,000 dollars for the pair...not happening here. I never got to try out the paradigm studio series. Has anyone had a chance to demo either the studio line from paradigm or the KEF XQ series. I have it in my budget to upgrade my speakers, but I think they are going to be very had to top.

Have you considered upgrading your amplification instead of speakers? I bet if you got some serious power behind those RTi150s you would notice a huge difference on par with a move in speakers. Just a thought.

I will also add that you NEED more power...I have a Denon 3803 that will only scratch the surface of what your 150's are capable of.

Have a pair of RTi12's bi-amped with 325 wpc and they still crave more...get yourself an external amp.(mininum 200 wpc.) and use your Denon pre-outs for your mains.

You will notice a very nice improvement in performance.
