is anyone using these in their 2 channel rig? I've seen some go for good prices on ebay and was wondering if they were worth my while

I'm using them in a so-called 2 channel setup. They're in the bedroom attached to a early 90's Sony AVR with the surround turned off. Placed about 6 feet apart on 18" stands they sound much better than the Norman Lab Model 10s they replaced.

They are classic speakers, with pretty good sound, but many feel that the side-by-side mid-woofers create havoc on the stereo image. Monitor 7 or RTA11 would be better for imaging in a 2-channel system. For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

I thnk they are great. So who cares? But Matt Polk personally told me they are his favorite all around speaker from the Monitor Line-up. The 7's are also great and as said quite arguably the best.

I have the so-called 10B....little bigger cabinet and maybe a different mid. My tweet is SL1000. I have loved them for 24 years. They played in two channel for years. Now are fronts in HT. I have done careful A-B with them against 7s and my 2004 Monitor Silver 6s, and they are still better than those in my opinion. I might pick up a second pair locally...though I am not sure what I would do with them. Shipping of course is high because of weight.

Neil I would replace the tweeter with RDO. you will love the difference.engtaz
I love how music can brighten up a bad day. -
I like my Monitor 10 series 2 enough to replace every driver in both speakers with new Polk replacements. The MW6503's were an easy decision because when I bought them, they had el-cheapo parts-express no-name drivers in them. Honestly though, the improvement wasn't as much as expected. Conclusion: el-cheapo drivers work pretty good. Not great. But, not terrible. I was never a fan of the SL2500 tweeter. The Polk RD replacement tweeter is much better.

It's on my list, but I have to figure out this midrange issue on the new 5. I am curious as to what Stubby has to say about the tweets in your CRS+. He only gets on now and then at work. After buying his SDA, he couldn't afford a computer!! You should PM him. Sorry for digression.
On the 10s, whenever I compare them toother speakers, including Polks (not SDAs), there is just more music there and, of course, they are deeper. I am sure mine need a tune up, but to play like they do after 24 years is amazing. No planned obsolesence there. -
Its a lot of speaker for the money. You can't go wrong. Small investment, big pay off. First speaker I heard that made me think of speakers as being 'fun'.

I don't use my 10B's as much now since I have the SDA 1C's in my 2-channel rig but they are great sounding speakers. I robbed the SL2000's from them (10B's) and bought another pair from a fellow polkie to male the 1C's stock. I know they aren't the RD0 tweeters but they sound good to me. As soon as I have room for another 2 channel system, I'll use those plus some of the other smaller bookshelf speakers for that set up.Richard? Who's your favorite Little Rascal? Alfalfa? I still have my series II. They were my first Polk purchase 13 years ago and I still love'em. From the bottom it looks like a steep incline, From the top another down hill slope of mine. But I know the equilibrium's there! .."Faith No More"

Monitor 10 speakers are excellent classic rock speakers. Eric Clapton really sounds good on them.

I too own 10s back from the late 70's. I bought them for the full sound and still enjoy them in my 2 channel and H/T setup. I am in the middle right now of redoing the crossovers. Should make a difference. The Peerless tweeters in my 10As definitely sound better than the SL1000, SL2000 and as good as the SL2500 to me. Enjoy! You can get them on E-Bay quite reasonable but make sure they get packed extra well as the Woofers have been known the get the magnets jarred (careless handling) and be useless on the older models.CARPE CEREVISI!!
