How do ya'll feel about an ABS hood? I am wanting to buy a ram-air hood for my truck, and found a pretty good deal on one that is ABS plastic, and I was wondering if any ya'll had experience with this verses fiberglass or anything else.

PS. Do you like my imaginary hood scoops? :D

Well never mind, I ended up buying the hood anyway. The ABS is a lot more sturdy than I thought it would be. I'll be interested in seeing how it works on the truck. Now I just need to get it painted...

I would be leary of a plastic hood. Fiberglass, while light, is extremely sturdy (although semi-brittle). ABS plastic is cheap, that's probably why you think you got a good deal.

A fiberglass ram air hood for a truck that size is likely to be in the 600 (online deep discount) to 1500 (retail) price range, unpainted, unprepped, no brackets.

A plastic unit of similar characteristics is probably in the 200 to 300 dollar range (online) or 800 (retail).

Take the hood springs off or it will bow after a few months.
