RMB-1075, LSi15, LFM-1+

I know the general concensus frowns upon the Rotel RMB-1075 for the LSi15's. I'm currently putting together the following.

LSi15 fronts
1x LSi9 for center
LSi7's rears
Outlaw LFM-1 Plus (in transit)

Here's the question:

If I'm running the 15's as small and crossing over at 80, would the Rotel RMB-1075 be sufficient to drive my setup since the sub is taking up a lot of the work?

I'd like to purchase new for warranty sake since I'm typically jinxed (Xbox 360, motherboards, cpu's, memory sticks, cars, etc) and the $999 price tag is much more palatable than the RMB-1095's $1999 tag. Besides, I could always pickup another amp down the road if I think the 15's need more power.

Am I thinking correctly or on the wrong path heading over a waterfall?

Thx

Running all LSI's off a receiver is never a good idea.Get an amp and don't look back.If money is tight right now, take it easy on that volume dial untill you do get an amp.Plenty of threads with tons of info on what to use with your speakers.Congrats on your choice, you won't be disappointed as long as you power them and set them up correctly.

Right, the question pertains to the 1075 and the 15's. If the bass signal is being crossed over at 80 to the sub, would that reduce the load off the 1075?

I only ask since the general opinion is the rmb-1075 (5x 200watts @ 4 ohms) is insufficient to run the 15's but I don't know if that's with a sub mated up also which I think would free up the 1075 to drive the 15's better.

Though I am not that familiar with Rotel gear,200 watts into 4 ohm is good,so I would not worry,of coarse more power is always an added benefit.

It's not JUST the 15's you will be running on them. You will have an entire setup of LSI's running off of that 1075.

You have obviously read the threads on the power requirements of the LSI's & yet still trying to find a cheap way out.

You know the risks you are taking, so have at it.

The Rotel is rated with all channels driven simultaneously, so I don't see the issue here.

I agree. The Rotel is more than capable of driving the LSi series in this setup.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Who is telling you it's insufficient? It's bunch of BS really, get the 1075 if that's what your budget is and be happy with it

200 wpc at 8ohm is nice, but it's not life or death. That Rotel will sound great.

Nice is a T-bone. This is like a full, blown 12 course meal served by scantily clad vixens.

Ok. Maybe not that good. :D

To my defense, I started off in this, dare I say, hobby going all the wrong way. As a result, I have a tendency to ask too many questions instead of just buying and testing. :o

There's absolutely nothing wrong with asking questions, prior to spending money. You only buy things on the fly if they are cheap.

I have no knowledge of the Lsi series, but I am running monitor 10s and 7s and a 5 with my 1075 and cranks it pretty good and it barely warms up. The sound stays clear with no distortion at all. I have no dB meters, but I am often at about 62-64 volume level on the RSP-976 (for what that is worth). On the other hand, the pre/pro does get pretty warm.

count me in the "that set up will be fine" camp. caveat being, down the road, when upgradeitus strikes, upgrade amplification before speakers to give the LSi's a shot at giving you more. they did for me.

For now, I will have to live with my Yammy AVR while I save up for the Rotel. Surprisingly, it's running my 15's without any heat problems but no 9's or 7's hooked up yet (will only run 4ohms through front L/R speakers).

Besides, I need to take a breather from the Tweeter going out of business sale!

Thx my audio brethrens. May your next life find you the only male on the planet of sweet, salacious stewardesses.

Honestly, I think my current setup is overkill. Heck, just 1 pair of LSi15's is overkill. But like you said, I love it!

Hit the used market when/if you are ready to buy an amp. You'll save a bunch of cash. All my amps are used and I have been very happy.
And you will have more money for higher class vixens.

Warranty thing scares me. This year alone I've had an Xbox, an iPod, a motherboard, and a video card go kaput. Thx goodness for warranty (mfg not extended) or else I'd be pulling my hair out.

Funny thing is I'm very careful with my toys.
