arcam or rotel?

Hey all, I have been in the hunt for a receiver for awhile now. I thought it was over with my purchase or a NAD T752 but the unit had issues so I sent it back and got back my money. With the little time I spent with that unit I really enjoyed the sound quality compared to my old Denon 3805, plus I loved the learning remote that came with it. I would love to try another NAD avr but have read that most models even right up to their flagship model have speaker noise issues.

I am looking now at possibly a Rotel RSX 1056 or an Arcam avr300. The arcam is more money but has gotten great reviews but the Rotel also is quite well regarded on most forums as well.

My speakers right now are polk monitors but in the future i plan on upgrading to at least RTI's if not LSI. I do not want to have to upgrade my reciever when i change the speakers.

Has anyone heard both of these and could help me decide if the arcam is worth $400 more? I cannot demo so I am going purely on reviews and suggestions on this and other sites.

I would like to go to seperates but the space in my entertainment center limits me to having a receiver only. I do have a Rotel RB 1070 for powering my fronts but would like to get a receiver that will do as good of a job so I can make more room to invest in a good universal player. I wish i had more room so I can set up better but I'm limited so I have to make due.

My friend has that Arcam, it's a great receiver! Excellent build quality and performance. It cost more like you observed, but it's worth it. I have nothing against the Rotel or Outlaw, I just think this is a superior unit.

Arcam, for sure. The Rotel stuff just isn't "all that and a bag of chips". Took out the big Rotel receiver with a Yamaha RXV2700, 2 channel stereo, analog inputs, no processing. It wasn't even close, the Yamaha was better on every front. The AVR300 takes out the Yamaha sonically, but not featurewise.

As an AVR300 owner, I'll vouch for it.

Thanks for the feedback. I think i'm leaning toward the Arcam. I should be able to sell my Rotel RB1070 cause i don't think it would do much better than the Arcam for two channel according to most reviews. I'm not hung up on a pile of features so I'm sure I'll be happy with the arcam. Thanks again. I'll get back to you all when i pick one up.
