I am seriously tempted to buy this amp. http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampstran&1184004845 But the shipping is killing me :( $328.66 is the cheapest way to get it here.

Will it sound better than a carver tfm-55 ?

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

I have never heard either, but I am a big fan of large toroidal power supplies, and caps. When I was younger I thought Carver was the bomb, but I just don't like switching power supplies. After the Sunfire/Adcom comparison I will not go with any highly efficient switching power supply again. After saying that I know Carver did used to make some nice amps in the TFM line. I wish I was more help.

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

I'm not going to say one will sound better than the other, different for sure, but better is subjective. Having said that, it's a he-man amp.

Contact Beardog for his opinion as he has one paired with a tube pre amp, which sounded damn good to my ears.

That amplifier does not weigh 110lbs, even when packaged in the original boxes.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I don't know if it will sound better than your Carver, but I do know that Parasound makes outstanding amps that will wake your speakers up!

I was trying to figure that out myself, it says it weighs 85lbs so Im trying to figure out how you can get 25 lbs of boxes and packing material involved. Oh well im going to pass on this one. Its all part of the price of living in paradise. in the summer anyways winters are hell lol.

Damn. Talk about temptation. Post a killer amp in my backyard!
Good thing I've got tubes, or I would have to think about this!
Good luck with your quest. I've been lucky enough to be able to find
    great equipment close to me.

Yes, it certainly will. Not a big fan of the TFM series amps, the Parasound is a whole different animal. I've had the opportunity to use many different Parasound amps over the years, even using one now. One of the best values in "cheap" amplifiers out there.

If you got it, enjoy. If not, find even a smaller one, that will get you a real life improvement in your system.

The Carver forum is a fine source of information on products, specifically the Amazing loudspeaker but its a dead forum.
