Syncing iPod to iTunes

After reformatting my computer and reinstalling iTunes, obviously my library is empty. So, how can I sync my iPod to iTunes? It seems impossible to do with iTunes. Is there a good third party software alternative what would do this and then allow me to continue using iTunes in the future? Thanks!

Simple question. If you had a cool million bucks, what would you do with it?

I don't know much about iTunes, but why did you reformat your computer? Most PC problems can be cured without reformatting, IMO.

Actually, I didn't reformat; I did a fresh install of a different OS. Went from XP Home to XP Pro.

Most specific PC problems can be cured. If you're a sloppy PC user and your PC just gets overrun and bogged down with crap, it's usually just easier to reformat than to spend the days worth of work trying to get it back to a clean state.

Not sure on the iTunes question, sorry for the derail.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Sweet. Two posts. Twice my hopes have risen. Two derails. Twice my hopes have been dashed.

I'm going to just stop checking this thread.

    :p

    You lost me.

When you ask about synching your ipod to itunes, are you asking to download your songs from you ipod to your reinstalled itunes? If so, try music rescue. Free.

I actually JUST ran across a post over at ilounge about how to do this a few minutes ago. I'm currently following its instructions, hoping it'll work.

It actually has me using the iPod as an external drive and then copying its contents to my computer's iTunes Music folder.

    We'll see if it works.

Yes, that's EXACTLY what I want to do. If what I'm doing now doesn't work, I'll try it out.

    Thanks!

    Thanks folks!
