LSi9 for Center

I don't remember who but somebody on this forum once used an LSi9 as a center channel speaker. I'm just curious if this is superior, inferior, or just similar to the LSi-C when playing movies.
Thx

Found what I was looking for...

It seems like it has all been asked before. I experimented with two Monitor 5s as centers and decided on just the one. Partly appearance and partly when I used two, the ohms dropped, the amp kicked them more power and my theory/ears told me that they were overpowering the fronts. In DVDs with strong center channel info, I found myself looking at the speakers as the sound seemed to be so directly from them. So, I now have just one. It is so far superior to the JBL series N center that it isn't funny.
In the old post you linked, one veteran member suggested that speaker mfrs would just sell 3 of the same if they worked as well or better than centers. I'm not so sure. I get the feeling there is a lot of markup in centers and more money to mfrs/dealers. Maybe not. -
Actually, a friend of mine bought the LSi25 and I bought the LSi15 so we were thinking about splitting a pair of 9's for center.

Works very well. I am running a 7 with my 15's (front projector setup), before the LSi's I was running RTi150's with RTi70 as centre. There's nothing wrong with non-centre speaker as one as long as it doesn't mess with the display setup. -
Thx for the feedback guys! I picked up an LSi9 from Tweeter closing sale.

Bingo! You were the person I was thinking of. Read an earlier thread somewhere but I just couldn't remember who/what/where.
I read too many posts.
Did you place the 9 on it's side with the tweeter up or was the 9 placed vertically?
Thx! -
I placed it on its side. You will find though that the sweet spot is narrowed but I found it to be way better than the LSiC. Dialogue was more intelligible.Sharp Elite 70

+1
Perfect description of the 9's as a center channel speaker although I'm comparing with the CSi25 (4ohm) center speaker since I don't have the LSiC. The sweet spot is very narrow.
Watching Casino Royale, I sometimes have a problem with the dialogue because I don't have an ear for british accent. The 9's are so clear, I can make out passages that were unintelligent to me before. Yes, duh, I could have turned on subtitles but why when you have great speakers?
Thx, Wingnut! -
