But like I said previously specs don't tell you how an amp sounds.Testing

thats a lot of money for a amp that can't even double the power into 4 ohms. And to think, i was actually excited about this amp until i read the specs....Speakers: LSi9 x 2, LSic, LSiFX x 2, Velodyne HGS-15
Amps & Power: Rockford Fosgate T8004 x 3, Cascade Audio APS-55 power supplies x 5, and 1 farad capacitor.
Electronics: Denon 3806, Toshiba HD-A1, & Sony KDL46XBR2
Accessories: Anti-IC interconnects, 8 Mondo Traps from Realtraps, and Salamander furniture. -
here is a true contender to this beast, albeit slightly less wattage, but double down:
www.gemstoneaudio.comI am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -
Thats the amp (Blue Diamond) Ive got my eyes on. I've never read anything negative about the amp, which in and of itself worries me, because on another popular forum, only a handful of people claim to have the unit.
There hasn't been an appreciable change to their website in at least a year, not that thats a measure of company stability, but I like to think that Gemstone is going to be around to honor warranty issues.
For the specs, I don't think you can beat the price for a new amp.Do you hear that buzzing noise? -
true. website hasn't been updated in a while. I have mine since 10/2005. Zero issue, driving a pair of SF Cremona, LSiC,9,Fx.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I loved the Cremona's when I auditioned them a few years ago. Very fluid with a 125w Krell HTS amp and pre. They were just too far out of my price range at the time. Great speakers.

it could be my last speaker at this point. For acoustic jazz and female jazz vocalists, I haven't heard anything better.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Just to answer the dual power cord thing: The amp will pull more than 15 Amps if running at full power even assuming 100% efficiency- A double down would draw around 35 Amps. Add into the efficiency of most amps and you'd be pulling more power than your washer, dryer, oven and microwave combined.
It's serious overkill for any reasonalble setup, just like the 200W/channel.There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin -
it is a good idea to include duel power cords (you get 30 amps not to play with), but if it doesnt double down, you are still going to have major current compression which will drop the dyamic range at certain frequencies....
My setup doubles down to 4 ohms and then doubles down again to 2 ohms. The dynamic range is very nice. But then again, the amps draw from three 20 amp circuits....
Edit: Also note that the system will pull tons of current even when not at full power. For instance a dynamic gunshot or explosion in a movie can easily pull 20 amps on its own. In the THX demo on in monsters inc, when the cows moo and stampede my capaciter light goes off, which tells me that i am drawing more than 275 amps (at 13 volts) which means my power supplies are using at well over 30 amps (120 volds) from the wall.Speakers: LSi9 x 2, LSic, LSiFX x 2, Velodyne HGS-15

My amp is rated at 2000 watts at 8 ohms, bridged mono. Is there a speaker on the planet that would need anywhere near that kind of power? Maybe only the bass guitar amp in Back To The Future....
