In an earlier post I asked about the amp I just bought on Ebay. Well, I received it and hooked it up today. It sounds fine except for when I adjust the level (gain) controls on the front. Can someone please explain how to clean these or what to do to eliminate the static when adjusting. I will probably never adjust, but would like to fix. Thanks, Jeff

Step 1: Buy a can of Deoxit 5% flushing spray.
Step 2: Remove covers, etc until you can see the back of the control pots. Usually, there is a few holes in the back.
Step 3: Spray a bunch of the Deoxit into the pots using the little straw that comes with the can (like WD40)
Step 4: Work the volume controls back and forth through the whole range repeatedly about 50 times.
Clean up any residue and reassemble. You should be good to go after that.
Deoxit cleans, lubricates, and protects from further oxidation. For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -

They used to show it online, but I've never seen it in the stores. DON'T use the crap that RadioShack sells instore, its no good. Get the real stuff and do it right. A little can will last you for a long time, so its good for many jobs. You'll find yourself going through all your electronics and giving them the Deoxit treatment.
Most people I know buy if from Partsexpress. For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -
Deox-it or Deox-id will both work like a charm.
I've got a can of the Radio Shack Contact Cleaner that I flame spiders with on the back deck, nothing else.Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service. -
Deox-it worked great. No more static. BTW, Radio Shack does sell Deox-it in a twin pack with Deox-it gold. $15.00 for the set. Thanks for the help.
Russ, if my amp says made by Urei, is that the better of the old synthesis amps? -

Good to hear it. ProGold (Deoxit Gold) is good stuff too. I use it on all my RCA connections, bananas, battery contacts, etc.For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...
