Y-Splitters

I'm sure this question has been asked before, anyone else have both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD and using y-splitters for the 5.1 audio outs? Seems using y-splitters would be a whole lot cheaper than buying an audio switcher which I only know of one and it's $600. If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it, if you notice any signal loss or any other complications using this method other than not cutting both units on at the same time.

I used y-splitters to bi-amp my tannoys on the 2 ch. HT rig, and I didn't notice any loss, but I made mine with Cardas Crosslink IC cable, so the cable quality may have played a factor in that. I doubt that you would have a serious loss in signal strength....Why not give it a try?

For your app I would give the splitters a chance since you play to upgrade your pre/pro here soon anyway. Or you can give the audio switch a try and if you dont notice the improvement, send it backShoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

I have used Cobalt Cables Y splitters to use LSi15 for both 2-ch and HT usage.
I did not find any loss of signal quality in my setup.
I would go with Y-splitter route as its cheaper & a simpler option.
Its a no brainer if you are planning to upgrade to pre/pro with built in DTS-HD & TrueHD decoding. That's what I'm also waiting for.
