I've been without my HT setup for about a week now.

I thought going 2 weeks or so without it would be no problem, I was wrong, I'm having withdrawals. Anybody have a cure? ;)

I was doing fine until last night when my wife turned on a movie, ugh!, TV SPEAKERS SUCK.

On the plus side my new equipment should be here by next Tuesday.

Rant over.
Thanks for listening.

I think tv speakers can often be terrific as a center channel and you can save the bank on the center. I am doing this with my Samsung and it is great. Maybe not for a full on HT, but it works great in the living room.

I guess it depends on what you are used to.

I have had a CSi3 for my center channel for over a year now, and I have never heard any TV speakers that could even come close.

I'm not knocking your setup, we all use what we like, or can afford, but the speakers on my Sony Grand Wega do suck.

I haven't used the speakers in any of my TVs for more than 8 years. To me, soft spoken dialog is almost unintelligible over TV speakers, which makes movie or drama viewing almost impossible. Using the TV as a center channel would be just as bad as using the TV by itself since most of your dialog comes through the center.

    C'mon, they aren't that bad.

I use my tv speakers most of the time. I think its annoying to turn on all of the equipment just to watch the news or a tv show. The only time I have everything on is when I'm playing dvds/cds and video games. but thats just me...
    AVR: H/K AVR240
    Fronts: Monitor 50s

I've never used the ones on my Samsung, but on every other TV I own, if you are watching anything that has any kind of volume, they're completely intolerable.

I suppose it's fine for the NEWS, but... beyond that... blech.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Yes, I believe the are THAT BAD! How hard is it to turn on a couple extra switches? The TV shows that I watch are every bit as enjoyable as my movie collection. In addition, with the HD shows out today, they are mostly in Dolby Digital, so I can't imagine watching them without the surround. Heck, even my local news was in DD last time I checked.

If your reciever or power is in for repair?
Easy peasy...just dial down the bass in sound menu for the tv internal speakers and hook your powered sub to the line out and compensate there.
We use a spare (computer) powered woofer on the bedroom LCD which has an eq for the internal speakers.
They output much more without low fq.

I have a 3 or 4 year old Hitachi Rear Projection HDTV - Directors Model (or something like that) - it was top of the line when I got it. Now its a dinosaur already. However, the internal speakers are really very good. I tossed around the idea of using them as the center channel (they have an audio in just for that purpose), but aren't timber matched to the LSis so that was a no-go. I'll go as far to say that they've got the best TV speakers Ive ever heard.
Do you hear that buzzing noise?
