Well Guys I just retired the old single Velodyne CHT-12

And Put in two Klipsch RW-12D. They seem to be alittle bit tricky at getting set up but I thought I would try them since I bought them for $519.97 each at the local Ultimate Electronics on a Price Match. I know for the price that I bought the Pair I could have bought a Single SVS PB12-plus/2 but I didn't want to weight a week "or longer"to get. Now If I end up not liking them i have 30 days to return and add a few hundred bucks and get the SVS. but with what little time I have had to demo/setup "4 hours" I can tell a big difference in SPL.
With the single CHT-12 I was only in the mid 90 range most of the time. sometimes it would peak in the low 100's. now with the duel Rw-12d's I'm rocking steady in the 110-112db range at the listening area with peaks "at this point in time" @ 122db.
Needless to say the Neighbors are not happy.. LoL

I'm sure you're happy for now, but comparing dual RD-12s to one PB12+ is a losing proposition. Lowest extension for your RD12s is 24Hz - you can get usable decibles on the 12+ down to 10Hz. Long term, the short term satisfaction is going to leave you wanting that sub. 24Hz is good for music, not so much for HT.
There is more to good bass than decibels.
Plus, SVS is having an overstock on piano gloss black right now at $949.HT/music rig

I'm ordering the SVS "TODAY" also to do my own comparison since there is no one in my area to let me demo theirs.

Well guys its time for me to do my own little comparison. yesterday I also ordered the SVS PB12-plus/2.
when it gets here I'll probably be spending most of the weekend inside "Weather man says rain for most of So. Illinois" so it will give me some time to make my decision "Duel RW-12d Klipsch's or a single SVS PB12-Plus/2?" I'll let you guys know how it turns out..

Comparison:
"this thing is 4 times the size of the Klipsch"
I doubt you'll get 122dbs from the Plus/2, but then I can't see how you can get 122 out of dual Klipsch...116dbs max output from a single is a stretch. Must be some room gain going on. I think you'll be pleased with the SQ of the SVS and output, but you do the comparison and let us know.

I had the same Velodyne and replaced it with a Plus/2 a little over a year ago. I've never heard the Klipsch (let alone two of them), but the difference the SVS made in my system was unbelievable. I look forward to reading your comparison.
By the way, if the location you have planned for it isn't pretty big...you might be in trouble. I bought mine used and when I went in the guys apartment and saw it, my first thought was, "When I come out of the door with this thing my wife is going to kill me.":DThings work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden -
I had that Klipsch sub before going to the PB12 plus 2. My thoughts were the Klipsch was ok but to me it just sound for lack of a better term "boomy". Once going to the SVS the bass seems much tighter, better response etc if you will. Enjoy your demos, however I think you will end up keeping the SVS. Let up know for sure.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Right now I've had two days of time on the Klipsch and my thought is the same as of now "they do seem to be Boomy".
I called SVS today that they shipped it out today.. I cant wait to see this thing..... the suspense it killing me.. LoL

My guess is that if the Klipsch sounds boomy then so will the SVS. "Boominess" factor is usually a result of room modes, and any sub will do the same thing in the same location/room.
By all means - let us know.HT/music rig

We'll guys I'm kinda upset at the shipping Company that SVS used. My sub was sent out on Tuesday from SVS. I just got off the phone with BAX Global and this guy Mike said that the package will be in St. Louis Mo. tomorrow but my sub is not scheduled to be delivered to my house "60 miles east of St. Louis" until Wednesday of next week.. I was kinda hoping to get this thing by the weekend so I could do some testing.. this sux!

OK guys yesterday I called Bax after I seen that my package was out for delivery. <--- to my surprise! Well I told myself that I would recant everything I said bad about Bax once I got home and seen my package sitting at my house.
Well I get home from work last night "Around 10:30 p.m." and guess what NO PACKAGE! so i still keep my cool and think well it will be here in the morning. so I get up this morning around 10:30. and check the web site "hoping to see it say'n (out of delivery)" . WRONG it says it went out for delivery yesterday and was returned last night and that the end of that.
So after seeing this I immediately call Bax in St. Louis and this guy tells me that he found my package in the security cage it was never put on the truck today for delivery. "I immediately start to get P.O'd. but i still keep my cool." Then this guy tells me "well sir you have two options, option 1 is you drive 60 miles to St.Louis plus another 15-20 mile into STL to get my package that I already paid $100 to be delivered, option two just wait till Tuesday and it will be deliver then. at this point I'm fuming and all i can say it "well i guess Tuesday it is and hung up on this guy..
I being a person that works for a distribution center in So. Illinois I know how this stuff works. So I call the Corporate office and talk to this Lady supervisor "Pamala" and I tell her the problem that I'm having and I specifically tell her that I leave for work by 1:30 in the afternoon. Se then tells me that there is no way they can get my package to me by that time and with out a Signature "For insurance reasons, which I under stand" they will not deliver my package. But what kills me is that this Lady out of the St. Louis distribution center "Amanda, I think that was her name." Said they would deliver it with out a Signature on Thursday. So after I tell her this She more less tells me that they will not ship this item back out until they hear from me say'n that someone will be there to sign for this package.. So I tell pamala that they might as well send it back because she is telling me that they can't own up to their shipping agreement. At that time she starts to rant, I cut her off and tell her that "I should have asked for SVS to use UPS,FEDEX, or hell even DHL at least then my package would have already been here" that makes her even that more upset and about the time she starts to retort I say "good by" and hang up the phone and called SVS to let them know whats going on
Now I have no sub more then likely it will be sent back I'm out $100 buck for shipping on something that I never received and if that happens I don't know what I will do. I guess I'll have to call my Credit card Co. and refuse the charges for goods I never received. I realize that SVS paid $110 to get it here and i only paid $100 and their out $10 but now Bax is telling me that I'm going to have to pay an extra "how every much" to get a Special delivery truck to get me my sub by 1:30 so I can Sign for it. Why? because they cant put my package first on the rout instead of last..
This is not the complete story just the cut down version because I'm still seeing RED! <--- LoL
Sorry for the rant guys but I still say BAX GLOBAL SUX!

well. as I see it.. the calls your made were a good idea.. but now you may be out of a excellent sub.. and for SVS to ship it out again. may cost you extra $$.
personally. i would have just waited till Tuesday.. called in sick to work.. and waited for BAX to deliver your brand spankin new SVS subwoofer. But that's just me.

1/ The shipment has to be signed for...there's a declared value (ins) to protect both SVS and yourself.
2/ The carrier is contracted to deliver within 5 business days, unless you are at an outlying point, which you are.
3/ Many times a carrier can deliver early, but they should have established a delivery appointment and time window (4 hours).
4/ It costs SVS in excess of $100 for each large sub shipment.
5/ The big subs PB12+ and up are too large and heavy for courier service delivery. They require liftgates or 2 men. The smaller units go UPS, but still require a signature I believe.
Sometimes a carrier can't accomodate a customer though they try. SVS can't and won't authorize special delivery charges, they already lose money on freight. Understandably you're disappointed, but BAX is still within their contracted window.
I've been in transportation for over 30 years, sometimes a hero and sometimes a goat to my customers. It's the nature of the beast...**** happens.
For the sake of disclosure, I also represent one of SVS's transportation vendors. I've been trying to displace BAX for a couple of years. It just doesn't sound like they've dropped the ball. Maybe their CS could have handled your problem a bit more skillfully and maybe you let your anger get the better of you. Sometimes patience and honey will get people more motivated to solve your problem.

Ron,
I first tried the "you catch more fly's with honey then you do vinegar" notion. but the fact of the mater is that I told them that there would be no one at my house to sign for the package after 1:30 in the afternoon. with that being said the Shipping company should have been understanding and tried to get me on the first or one of the first to be droped off. You know run the route back wards <--- its that simple we do it all the time.
I also being a person that works for a local distribution center, if we have to we do everything in our power to get the package to the customer when there home, not just slam the door in their face and say "oh well its your fault that we cant get the package to you."
Now with that said, I would call in from work "trust me if I could I would" but I would loose my Holiday pay and that worth way more then this sub. <---- I know someone smack me.. but the fact of the mater is this shipper should be obligated to get this package to the customer any way possible..

I couldnt agree more with danger boy. I know time is money and all but take the day off. You will wish you had when you see your sub anyway. Not sure if you work weekends but try having it delivered on a Saturday then. Good luck and dont let your sub go back man, you'll be kicking yourself if you do. Its just that good man.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Email Erik @ SVS...when something goes south with one of my deliveries, he makes it my responsibility to fix. I'm sure he's got someone at BAX that can solve this problem for you. Just don't expect miracles, but I would think a Tuesday delivery before 1:30 is doable if you get in touch over the weekend and let him roust his Account Rep early Tues. AM.
