i dont buy a h.u. for eq's or crossovers personally. they dont offer enough control even in the best ones. i run a audiocontrol dqxs so i have all the e.q. and crossovers i will ever need.

Depends on your situation..... I myself like simplicity. My current HU can provide me with 11 parametric EQ bands if I choose. In the mode I have it now I have 7 PEQ bands, many different x-over points and slopes (this is not counting if I go into custom mode)... this is more than enough for my current needs.

Audiobliss I have the kenwood excelon kdc-x791. The only difference in it and the 891 is the motorized face and 5 volts preouts. the 791 has flip down face and 4 volt preouts.

Let me tell you the sound quality of this deck is the best ive ever heard and I once owned a alpine 9833. If you have any doubts in what im hearing.

I had the CDA-9835...very nice HU but that did not compare to my old Alpine setups. Say what you want about the guts of these models (9833, 9835 and current Alpine gear) not really making a difference in sound, they do not sound the same compared to the older Alpine setups that used those 20bit DAC's like the old Sony ES line.

I have a CD7000 and I love it! The only unit that I would currently trade it for is the Clarion DRZ9255. I love how you can have full control of your ipod with it and charge it at the same time! You can get some great prices on them right now? With your setup it sounds like you will be using passive crossovers. If that is the case, you could go with the CD5000 and get great results for even cheaper! It is way better than the newer CD5100. You get 5 or 7 band parametric EQ, 8v preouts, time alignment and 2 way crossover. With the CD7000 you get 7 or 11 band PEQ, 3 way xover and 5v preouts. Something to consider.

The time alignment feature on the CD5000 is inadequate. It is nothing more than preset values that don't hit the mark. I would not consider this a "real" feature when purchasing this HU.

well i pre ordered the kdc-x991 today for only $400 in philly. thats a hell of a price that beats crutchfield's $650 price tag. it wont be here until july, but it will be well worth it! i cant wait!!!!!
