Vinyl Search Network???

I was thinking that since some may not have local record shops, and we all know eBay can be a bit of a crapshoot; I thought it would be nice to have a small network of individuals willing to search their local shops for hard-to-find titles.

I figured those searching for an album could simply post it here along with any requirements they have, such as record and/or sleeve quality, specific pressing, etc. Of course this would be an entirely non-profit arrangement.

So.....Do you all think this would be a good idea, or am I just crazy?:D

BTW I personally have two good shops I'm willing to search.

Sounds great to me. The only shop I knew of here in Newark, DE just closed their doors for good at the end of April.

Franz Lehar: Altwiener Liebeswalzer, Old Viennse Love Waltz and all that comes with it.

Edward Grieg: Peer Gunt Suite No. 1 Op. 46 and all that comes with it.

Pietro Mascagni; Cavalleria Rusticana, Inter Mezzo/Inneggiamo Il Signor None Morto

John Adams; Short Rid in a Fast Machine.

Pretty much any performance will do.

Sorry, what I find is MINE. If I have a copy already, I promise to compare it to mine, and give the worst of the two to a good, close, personal friend.

once or twice a month I make it down to the city on the weekends, they have a flea market that has a decent amount of vinyl. Most are in good shape at a buck a pop the ones in better condition are 25-30 bucks. I scored 7 lp last week and only one of them had an issue.

I checked my shops and was unable to locate them. However they both asked for the list and are going to keep on the lookout for them.

Let me know if you find them.

Great idea! Keep in mind too that one of us might have what you want and not care about it. I'm sure I would love a ton of stuff that many others would use as frisbees and vice versa.

Thanks Bro. I've been looking at some shops in Philly they carry some wierd stuff, Indy stuff, and some old head and newer bands but not much in the used or classical dept.

No Problem. I just found out tonight about a good sized shop in Omaha that I'm going to try to visit in a few weeks. I'll check there for them.

That shop is about 10 miles from my house.:D I think that I went to college with Jerry. I've been in a couple of his places over the years. I need to drop in and see him.

Yea me too. I just checked out a shop near Omaha, NE recently that blew me away. I thought for sure that this friend of mine was over hyping it, but I guess I was wrong. This joint has more that 750,000 albums!!! I'm hoping to head back there really soon so I'll be sure to take your list with me.
