Check your local Craigslist. Straight CD players are often available very cheap. Also check eBay but search for items that are geographically close to you. Pick a player up and avoid shipping charges.

craigs list NEVER has anything in my area and ebay *shrugs*people never take care of their **** like the receiver i got on there. . works great but smells like somebody dropped a bottle of cheap perfume in it and the smell wont go away :( any nice audiophiles out there care to help a young boy (19)out with some well taken care of goods :D [ill trust people here before craigslist or ebay]

Unless someone has a better one to give you I'd suggest one of the toshiba 3960 dvd players to use as a really good sounding cd player. I've seen them sold for under $50 new and they sound better than a dedicated cd player costing a few hundred dollars. Search the forum under "3960" or "3950" for other threads related to this unit.

I have a Toshiba DVD-cd player I got for $48 that my wife uses in her office. It does surprisingly well.
