RTi 150s: To Keep or Not to Keep

I am trying to improve my home theater. I will probably be update from my current Denon 3802 to either a 4306 with possibly a separate enviga 200 wpc amp or I may just get a B&K 507. Should I just stick with the 150s and my CSi 40 or jump up to say some B & W 600 series. Are the 150s going to come alive more with some updated components or would some b & w really improve my setup.
Fronts: Rti 150s
Center: CSi 40
Side Surr: Rti 55
Surr. Back: Csi 30
Sub: SVS PB12 Plus/2
Receiver: Denon 3802
Conditioner: Monster HTS 3500

You will need an amp anyways. Get the amp first. Make sure it is 4 ohms stable. I love the Adcom GFA-550. You can get them for $300 on ebay all day long if you keep an eye out. Then decide whether you need new speakers. The B&W's are definitely more musical. Also check out the LSI9's. They are small but really nice, and tight.

B&W's sound like Russman farting after a burrito fest.

Keep your 3802 (I have one myself) and get a 200wpc amp. That will give you a boost that will make your speakers sound brand new!

The RTi150's are GREAT speakers. I must say that I USUALLY disagree with Cathy's 200WPC fits all reccomendations ;) but this is one of the few speakers that truly need a ton of power to shine. On those speaks, 200WPC is the minimum I'd think about running to them, especially if they are set to "Large".

Even if you went to B&W's you'd still have to buy an amp. I know for my money, I'd rather have the 150's with an amp than the B&W's and no amp.

    Get an amp!

I'm in a similar boat trying to decide what I should do with my "new" RT setup. My RT600s seem to crave more power than my Pioneer A35R can dish out. Either need to sell them and go back to bookies, or get a more powerful integrated / stereo receiver for the bedroom.

Anyone have a HK 3375/3480 they want to let go on the cheap?

very well said, it was these type of speakers along with the SDA that got the 200 wpc band wagon rolling down the tracks.

Well... I changed to NHT classic 3's with an SVS sub and let me tell you that it smokes the Polks (does that rhyme) on Jazz which is my current interest, but when I want to listen to some rock, like Metallica's Black album - nothin compares to those Polks! I powered them with bridged NAD amps at 300 plus watts per channel and my basement sounded like a club! Should have kept them.....

I used to own the 150's before upgrading to LSi's. As others have suggested, adding amplification will really open them up. They are great speakers but need amplification to feed the beast!

Thanks for the posts guys, I'm definately going to pick up an amp soon. As for new speakers, I'll probably take you guy's advice and listen to how the extra juice makes them sound before selling them.

I thought just the RTi100's were powered....

You're right, I am wrong. The 150 does not have powered subs, just more drivers. You'd think after all the time I spend on this forum I would know something as simple as that.
