Ok, I'm a HUGE Krell fan... but why the heck would someone need this???

http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/expensive/up-close-and-personal-with-krells-1200-ipod-dock-259821.php

Doesn't this just defeat the purpose of getting a high end amp/pre-amp? I mean on an iPod you don't get the best quality sound and if you use high quality or lossless format, then what's the point of the iPod!! This is kind of a paradoxical device isn't it?

Oh, and despite what I said, if I had $1200 to blow, I WOULD get this cool iPod dock :)

My son got me an "Ipod Dock" for X-mas which I use for my Nintendo DS. It's a RCA stereo "Y" connector (to a minature headphone plug) and a 25' headphone extension cord. Works great and it cost him about $10.00.

If you put music on your i-Pod in an uncompressed format, you essentially have a little music server. Why not? they need more "affordable" products.

Looks nice!!! I haven't heard great things about the Shanling though... even the shop owner at Boston who sold them told me that they look great but their performance is below par... compared to what you pay for. Essentially you pay for the looks not performance.

The ipod is like the old victrola or the home pc, a big peoples toy. People are interested whether the stuff makes sense or not and are just looking for new stuff to add to their toy collection. Nothing wrong with that, I do it too. Sometimes I buy accessories that would be neat even though they make no sense at all. (Or at least no sense given the price). :)

waaaaaaaaaaa that figures Shelby, well still a tube dock is not the same as a tube I-pod, someone will bulid it, some tube nut (F1???) (RT1???) (Bear) is sure to buy it.

I-PODS are a hit no doubt, look at the young ones here buying them, even Ole AL at Polk has one, he loves it!!!!!!!! I know its like "say it ain't so Joe" but alas it is and they and servers are the way of the future. I suppose if Hi-Fi companies get into the act they will improve things.
