I think it is a synthesis amp, but can't find any info on it. I didn't expect to win. Anyone have any idea what it is? Thanks, Jeff

Looks exactly the same as the JBL Urei amp I had, only mine was silver. power on in the center, gain for l/r, fan in the back, same chassis and rack adapters.....looks like an amp to me.

Edit: great amp by the way :)

No idea to be honest. I would either go here and see if i see it. http://www.jbl.com/home/product_support/default.aspx or go here and ask these guys. http://audioheritage.org/vbulletin/

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

It most certainly is. From a first generation Synthesis system. They are ballsy amps, and really hard to blow up. Not a great sounding amp, but certainly not bad....especially for that kind of money.

I'd say you did incredibly well. I would have bought it, don't really have a use for it, but I would have anyway. Can't pass up a deal like that. I just picked up a Parasound HCA750 for $75 and thought I did good.

I think is the s300 amp. I found a pdf file for it online. (attached) It has XLR inputs. I will need an adapter to RCA to use. Anyone know where to get them cheap? I just need to see if the amp works before I spend more money on interconnects. I was thinking about using it to drive my rears speakers and biamping my 1.2TL's with 4 channels of my 7 channle B&K 7270 amp.

    Thanks for the replies.

Your local pro shop/guitar store will have them for $10.00-$15.00 a pair or you can get them online for a little less. Or if you want I will send you a pair for the price of postage. pm me if you want them with an address. postage will probally be $1.50 or so airmail. heres a pic of what they look like.

Lou, your amp is a Urei model - a major upgrade over a stock synthesis series.

I received the amp today. I can't listen until I get the adapters. The front says Synthesis 300. The back says manufactured by UREI. The color is grey. It is in very good condition with a small scratch on the top rear right corner. It is very heavy.
I can't believe how clean the amp is. There is no dust or grit. Either it was cleaned exceptionally well or it hasn't been used much.
    Thanks Jeff
