    Not a damn thing, I'd keep your money!:D :p

Either something from the SVS or the HSU lineup, nothing else in that price range can come close, besides DIY.

    Do hookers count as "subs"?

I new I was gonna get some fun replies, but I was hoping for, "I'd go to subway and buy to two 6 inchers one for your **** and one for your mouth, that way you won't be able to yell or chase me as I run off with your money."

Considering your in Ohio, I would go with a SVS PB12NSD and if you pick it up, you'd be right on budget.

I gave the guys from SVS a call. They definitely said I could pick it up. Plus I get 5% off for being a return customer.

What is the sub for? Music? Movies? I'd probably build one myself and put the extra money in aesthetics.

I saw an STF2 somewhere for $275 shipped... I believe it was on AV123 forum. Can't beat that for the money, IMO.

Try and find a used SVS PC+ (or equivalent box sub) or one of the bigger HSU box subs.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

I'd ask you how big was the room you were planning on putting it in, how far away the listening postion is, and what other speakers you have in your system.

    McLoki,

I've been really thinking about that sub from HSU a lot. I think the VTF-2 MK 3 would mate well with my LSi15s and my Totem Rainmakers. YesI have a two channel rig with 4 mains. Of course, I don't listen to all four at the same time.

    Got some tools?
    Working working skills?
    Time?

Build your own and get value over a commercial built sub that can compete with the best of them.

My 12 inch, using a Dayton Reference series, Rythmik amp and Parts express box, set me back $400 and will run against a SVS anyday.

Even a DIY Parts Express sub, will do he trick less than $600.

Just finished a IB one for a friend, 15 inch Dayton IB sub and a Rythmik amp, for less than $400. Used a interior closest as the housing!!!!! This will take on the best SVS has to offer!!!

I was in the same boat about a month ago and searching in that price range. I listen to music more than movies. For that amount I bought a Martin Logan Dynamo. I'm real happy with it. SVS, and HSU were highly recommended from folks on the forum when I was shopping for mine. Good luck.

Wait for the Polk DSW PRO 500 ($589) to come out. While you are waiting, save another $100 for the $699 msrp DSW PRO 600.

It will be SO worth it. You won't be able to touch these subs at the pricepoint, with response, remote, room optimizers and feed foward distortion supression built in.

    Cheers,
    Russ

    The DSW PRO 400 has an 8 inch woofer, 180w cont / 360 dynamic. The 500 has a 10 inch woofer, 200w cont / 400 dynamic. The 600 has a 12 inch woofer, 250w cont / 500 dynamic. As far as low end extension, the 400 will play down to 25Hz, 500 23Hz, and 600 20Hz.

As far as release dates, stay tuned, but it shouldn't be too long. Thing can always change, but last I heard it was June.

The DSW PRO series are only one of the lines of new subwoofers coming out, that will have everyone rethinking the statement that Polk doesn't make worthwhile subwoofers.
