What do you guys think of this. Its signal to noise is > 90
It is very flexible. But Sq has me concerned. What do you guys think of this in a Hi Fi situation? It has 6 outputs with 2 inputs.

Thanks Ben

Has anyone ever used an electronic XO for HiFi that wasn't silly expensive. I need 2 high outs at 2000-2500, and 4 low outs at the same. I have XLR outs on my Pre.

    Thanks Ben

    Why 4 LP outs?

8 speakers with an adcom GFA-5800 for the stereo array
8 speakers with an adcom GFA-585 for the dimenional array, or sub woofer mode.
    2-4 tweeters for the highs
These figures are for each cabinet.
This way I can ajust the SDA effect, or use them for subs for "movie mode"
Each cabinet is going to have 2 seperate chambers.

    Thanks for your interest

Well I have been collecting driver for a bout a year now. I have all flavors of MW's. When I assemble my project I will do my best to put like drives in the same arrays. All drivers a 8 ohms, some are more efficient than others, and have slightly different SQ. I am planning on putting the less efficient drivers on the top, and bottom of the arrays. I must say that I really have respect for the 6501's which I have a lot of. I will keep Polkies notified as progress continues.

There's a little info on this forum and on google if you search. It's mentioned in plenty of threads on AVSforum, have fun navigating through that.

And a heads up, it's cheaper through Amazon. ;)

Thanks face. I have done a lot of goggling, but most of what I got out of it was pro audio guys using it. Their idea of good sound, and some of ours are quite different;) I have read a lot of forums, and it is like a cable thread here. So that makes me think that it may be a good option. What I really need to do is check amazon's return policy if I am not satisfied. Worst comes to worst I could Ebay it for probably a $50 loss. Compared to the rest of my audio investments that wouldn't be too bad, but 50 is still 50!

Behringer makes some of the biggest pieces of **** in Pro Audio, and their price reflects that.

They sound bad, they're built bad, but man they are cheap and we sell alot of them.

But I don't get comission here! So :)

Thanks Sid thats kinda the impression that I was getting. I think anything pro audio mixed in with Hi Fi will have serious short comings in SQ. Can you recommend anything good, and cheap. I need to do HP/LP between 2000 and 2300 24db on the HP. What do you think of the Rane 22?

    Thanks again Sid

I have been very impressed with DBX gear ---

The Rane looks pretty decent as well, if you want to go Pro gear for the crossover, spend atleast 300 bones (if not more).

But stay away from Behringer with a 10 foot pole, and if you can extend that pole more... do so!

I'm waiting for someone to just give me a Behringer piece because they dislike it so much... that way I can burn it. I have a pair of Headphones I may burn by them.. thinking about it.

Sid -- stop pissing on Behringer -- for the price, they make great subwoofer amps! ;)

Now I will say that Behringers Powered Speakers (Studio Monitors, and Pro Audio Speakers) are one of the best values in PA/Studio. They arnt the absolute best products ---

But they sound pretty good for the price, but their reliability is like a piece of cheese without a fridgerator.

And lets face it, a generator could be a subwoofer amp. ;)

Ben If you want a very hi performance active crossover you can get one of these bad boys.http://www.bryston.ca/10b_m.html Im using one and can atest to its excellent sound quality. It is strictly a pure analog unit(no DSP) that uses discrete transistor opamps instead of the usual IC opamps. But it is tad more pricey than the others mentioned approx.$2500

Well I have been doing some research, and I have found a local guy that sells them. I talked to him, and he said he would give a %100 refund if I am not satisfied with it. While talking to him I told him my reservations about buying the product. That I have seen reviews from its the best thing since sliced bread to I wouldn't wish it on my X wife. I still am going to try my passive in-line crossover first. The problem I am facing with that design is that my Adcoms require a 2volts signal to reach full power. Multiply this times three amps, and I am not sure if it can keep up. I do not like the idea of added electronics in the signal path. Especially digital. a lot of the reviews that had issues with the Beringer DCX-2496 were from people trying to drive them with the RCA outs of their Pre amps. They would have problems with the source clipping. My Outlaw 990 has XLR outs, so I don't see this being an issue. I think the guy feels pretty confident that I will be happy with the unit. He stated that he has never had anyone want to return it, or the digital equalizer. These things are super flexible, and can be programed via computer linkup, or PCMCIA card.

Marchand Electronics makes (or will provide in kit form) some excellent crossover designs. I believe they will one-off about anything you can dream up as well.

If I went that route I would have to go active. If I went passive I would be stuck with amps that have 50k inputs. If I go active the prices get pretty high. I appreciate the link.

    Thanks Ben
