RTi6 Setup Question

Hello, I just got my RTi6's and I hooked them up to my amp. I am not bi-wiring these so my question is does it matter which posts I use to connect to? The instructions make it clear as to which posts to use when bi-amping and bi-wiring, but do not say much when using a single connection to a single amp. Any help will be appriciated.

    Hi Krell,

    Welcome to the forum.

Although it doesn't matter which post you use, I would recommend using the lower set of posts. Thats what I have already done. In future you should also consider changing the metal strips to short short length of good quality wires, you will notice some improvement over using the metal strips.

How does rest of your setup looks like and what wires are you using?

Yup, top or bottom is fine, just make sure the metal stip between the posts are in place. Or as Izafar indicated, use a short piece of quality wire instead of the strip. I did this and couldn't really tell the difference, but some say they can hear an improvement. Try it.

I see this is your first Post. Welcome to the club. I've been hanging out on this forum for a year now and have learned a ton of valuable information. I couldnt agree more and welcome to the club. I have spent allot of time here, reading old posts, learning, ect. Just when you think you done it all, you'll find something else to try. Wait until you start trying out different cables, etc. Its all in good fun, I damn near live behind my amp rack.

Thank you all for the info as well as the warm welcome. I just found these forums last night. I was not even aware that Polk had their own. I usually visit the S&V forums.

The reason for my question was because when I hooked up my new RTi6's, I noticed that the highs sounded a bit muffled. I was concerned that I may have not wired it properly. But after reading a a few posts, I feel they may just need to be broken in more. (Only used them for about 4-5 hours so far). I was using the Monitor 40's for the past 6 months and their highs sounded much better. I was a little disappointed at first. But I am sure the RTi'6s will break in nicely.

As for my 2-channel system (in my home office), I am using the Krell KAV-400xi with the Sony SCD-C2000ES. I am using Monster Z1 speaker wire and Monster Z100i connects. (I am hoping to upgrade to the Krell KAV-2250 and KAV-280p seperates soon.) The reason I went with the RTi6's is becuase I wanted better bass response than the Monitor 40's. I definately got that!

I narrowed my choices down between the B&W 602's and the Polk RTi6's. Both had very similar specs and sounded very good. I would have been happy with both. I finally decided on the Polks not only because they were half the price, but all things being equal, I would rather have a companys higher end line than another companys lower end line.

Make sure the nuts holding the metal strip between the posts are tight, too.
RTi6 should not need break-in to sound better than Monitor 40 out of the box.

Good speaker choice by the way! I was torn between B&W 601/602 and RTi6 myself a couple of years back.

I could be wrong but, "Muffled Highs" doesn't sound like a break in issue. Sounds like something else could be off. Rti's have very detailed highs.

I agree. Tweets don't need no stinkin breakin.
