Those are the "auto on" options; 12v if your AVr/pre has a 12V trigger out; you connect it to the amp 12v in and every time yu turn on your AVR/pre the amp turns on. Music will make the amp turn on anytime it gets a signal from the AVR/pre (via RCA cables).
Oh...and get two of them_________________________________________________

So it would be best to get two and use them for my fronts and not have one for my center channel?T.V.- Sony KDL50W800B

I'd get two now and get the third one later.......Make the mains sing, then go from there.

Well, it would help to know what speakers/gear you have.....but normally if you have to choose people wil go with L/R, which gives you the power not only for HT but also for stereo listening. It is true that the center gets a great deal of the signal for multichannel movies....but I don't know anyone that has only an amp for the center._________________________________________________

Also what is the difference between the m2200 and the m200?T.V.- Sony KDL50W800B

I'm not sure what changes between the old M200 and the new M2200. Both are 200WPC.
Looking at your setup, I wonder why you are looking into amps; I'm not saying that more power can't get you some improvement....but your receiver should be giving enough juice for your speakers; is there anything in particular you're looking for/don't like?_________________________________________________

I think the M2200 has balanced outputs. I would get them for the 2 mains at least. Although the more you buy, they give you a discount.
Get them regardless of the Polk line, you will always be able to use them when you upgrade other equipment. More power is always good!:D Be sure to let us know what you hear for differences.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
Sage...
What is it about your current set-up that you are unsatisfied with? 200wpc is by no means a prerequisite to make the Monitor 40's sing. In fact, your HK should pretty much have them 95% of the way there.I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore -

cfrizz: I disagree; I would not recommend purchasing amps without getting more info....I doubt he'll be able to tell any difference with his current AVR/speakers (except for a reduced bank account )
sageleo: Are you actually planning to upgrade your speakers? More importantly, what is it you don't like about your current setup? What about the rest of your gear (DVD player, etc??). If you just have the upgrade bug and the money, best would be to find the weakest link and work on that._________________________________________________

I knew everyone would disagree with me.:D You "doubt" that he will hear a difference, but you don't know for sure. What is the basis for not wanting him to try it out to see if there IS a difference?
If he came on wanting to try tubes, you guys would be falling all over yourselves encouraging him. As far as I'm concerned this is no different.
He won't be out a lot of money, he can always use them with future upgrades, & he can always sell them here or elsewhere if he decides to get rid of them.cfrizz: I disagree; I would not recommend purchasing amps without getting more info....I doubt he'll be able to tell any difference with his current AVR/speakers (except for a reduced bank account )

You don't know for sure if he WILL hear a difference either, and the basis for not recommending is that I don't like to tell people to spend their money without knowing what they are really after. I would wait to understand better what he's looking for._________________________________________________

The 1 on my head.
and I misread the statement "but I don't know anyone that has only an amp for the center."engtaz

to be honest with u I have upgraditis, and someday hopefully soon I will be upgrading my speakers, sub, and buy a power amp. Since money isn't as abudent I would like I'm gonna have to do it in stages. I just thought that since my avr is only 50 wpc and my speakers can handle more maybe a power amp wouldn't be such a bad idea.
As for my other gear I have a mitsubishi 52" dlp xbox 360, samsung hd860 upconverting dvd player. I personally think my weakest link is in my sub but my wife is putting a restriction on how much I can spend on my current upgrade whatever it is. I did see rti6's on ebay for 215.00 bin would that be a decent upgrade over the monitor 40's and how would they sound with my M 30's as surround?T.V.- Sony KDL50W800B

Well since you are planning to upgrade your speakers, by all means get the amps now so that it is one less thing you have to buy later on & your Monitor 40's will most likely benefit with the increase now!Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2
