So I plan on selling my SVS PB10 NSD soon . . . but I want to purchase a new sub to compliment my LSi15s and my new Totem Rainmakers. I want something muscial. I was thinking about the HSU VTF-2 MK 3 Subwoofer or perhaps SVS 20-39 PCi. I've heard HSU is more musical in general compared to SVS. Any other brands I should consider in the $500-$600 range. HOw do the HSU and SVS compare at the given pricepoints? The HSU is powered by 250 watts while the SVS runs at 320 watts.

the Outlaw LFM-1 plus is on sale right now for $499 (www.outlawaudio.com), which I think is the best deal out there right now. It is essentially a HSU VTF3 mk 2.

Sale will only last through the NY show this weekend, so act fast!

For a true musical sub look at a REL. The other ones you mentioned are true grunts for HT but not what you want for a true musical sub.

SolidSqual: I may be interested in that SVS when you decide to sell.
I am in C-Bus so it would be a local pickup.

I've heard the VTF3.2 a very nice sounding sub and have a couple of SVS Plus subs here. Aside from output advantages between models they are pretty close in overall ability (I'm talking the various subs of the Hsu/SVS lineup) IMO to get either to shine for music, it's all about calibration and placement more than the sonic difference between ported brands. The sealed SB12+ I believe would be a musical step up without sacrificing too much bottom from the PB10.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
    Oppo BDP-83SE
