Looking at RT16s...

...$80 on the local Craigslist. Current owner says they're cosmetically excellent, no defects but he "can detect some distortion from the lower drivers at low volumes." Not sure what that means but I guess I'll find out tomorrow.
Hoping these work out for the bedroom rig. Guess I better start looking into driver replacement costs.

Ok, got 'em! The lower mid drivers on each side did indeed buzz but I went ahead and bought them anyway. Pulled the bottom drivers and inverted them (technically, rotated them 180 degrees around a line passing perpendicular to the face of the speakers) as per this thread http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43457 and now they sound great! And in practically perfect condition, cosmetically.
So - what was the problem that inverting the drivers solved?--
