I've given up trying to find a pair of Monitor 12's anywhere close andf the last ones on ebay sold very pricey. Or if it happens, then I will deal with it. For now, I would like to get another pair of 10's as backup. I have 10B's with the SL1000, which I have enjoyed for years. Since I really don't have much basis for comparison, I can't say if the tweet is good or bad. What would you guys recommend in getting a second pair of 10's, the Peerless, SL2000, SL2500 or something else? I really don't want to do a mod unless it is just a drop in of the tweeter. Thanks.

Peerless or a newer model and then replace with the new silk dome tweets. The sl1000 in your current model is less than optimal and the RD0's are great. I don't believe any cabinet modification is needed for the sl1000. Only very slight mods are needed for peerless tweets.

H9, I know you posted this before, but could you (or anyone else) restate what tweeter goes in for the SL1000 in a 10B. You almost have me convinced to make the change. But, this is why I am looking for a back up pair if I funk these up. Thanks. Mike

Best of my knowledge it's the RD0194-1 silk dome. I've lost track if there is any cabinet modification, if there is it's minimal.

Not to my knowledge other than the RDO194-1.

The silks are a little laid back. I modified my XO with slightly less Resistance resistors, and it fixed the flattish high, and opened the sound stage. Big difference.

I thought that RDO was not a replacement for the peerless tweet. but i could be mistaken too.

Is this what you are looking for? Couple dents in caps, but they have come out with a vacuum cleaner for me on several occasions.

Yeah....that's it. The last pair on ebay went for over $600 plus big shipping. These look really beat up, beyond the dimpling. I check for polk listings on ebay about twice a day, but I must have thought these were SDA and skimmed past.

Slik dome? What does this mean? Is this the part of the tweeter that vibrates (I'm so technical) or a cover...or is "silk" a metaphor? And since I am being stupid, with the SL2000, is it plastic that is being buzzed? I need to go find some tweeter diagrams. Thanks.
